What do I like looking at? Silence. I like looking into silence; it is dark, mystifying, and curious. Silence has no form, but every time you hear it you have to look. When we hear nothing we automatically think something broke, we must find out what IT is. Societally, silence has mixed connotation ranging from creating a sensation of serenity to outright panic. This mixed emotion is what I aim capture.
Loosely inspired by ‘In Between Places’ of photographer Uta Barth, I explore the void beyond our visual acuity where we see but don’t look. Defying convention and forcing the audience to infer their own conversation from memory, a memory where we see our past and our potential in them.
